ALASKA TRIP - DAY 5 - PART 2 - PURE FUN!! β€”β€” We had so much fun that afternoon white water πŸ’¦ rafting on the Nenana River in the Denali area with New Wave Adventures! Fantastic company, so helpful and responsive while we were planning, and our guides were awesome! HIGHLY recommend this. We laughed the whole time. And the scenery was gorgeous. If you want to do this on a visit to Alaska definitely contact them, and wear your baselayers! The water is cold! But the fun made it totally worth it. This is our group plus a very nice couple we met who were volunteering at Denali National Park all summer. Way cool. Thank you New Wave Adventures for the truly amazing river trip!
ALASKA ADVENTURE - DAY 4 & PART 1 of DAY 5 β€”β€” Day 4 was mostly driving. A LOT of driving. From the Kenai Peninsula to Anchorage to switch cars, and then to Denali National Park. It took all day. We had spectacular views of Denali though! (first photo). Evidently, fewer than 30% of visitors actually get to see Denali because it is usually cloud covered. We felt VERY lucky we had great views of it on a good part of the drive. A woman from Fairbanks, Alaska said it was the best view of Denali she has ever seen. Later - at about 9 PM - we stopped for a yummy dinner. Places are still hopping late because it is light all night. Then we took a quick drive into Denali National Park after 10 PM. Almost empty at that hour. We saw gorgeous views and had great moose encounters! We saw them safely from our car. These were just a few of the 17 moose we saw on the whole trip. Then Day 5 started off with some quick hikes near the visitor center. We took a river hike (we would raft later - more on that in the next post) and saw the train that takes folks to Denali if they prefer to take a train and relax, rather than drive. So much to see. And the second part of Day 5 would bring even more fun! Stay tuned for the next post.
